Our leaders asked us why we wanted to go to London. These are are responses.

A few thoughts:
As we have been preparing to go to this city, I have been asking The Lord what he thinks about London. In some ways it seems odd to go to a city that already has so much Christianity. But something I've been realizing is that this city, although full of Christianity, is a very dark place. Yes, the church exists there, but they are in need of help from the Holy Spirit. They have name that they are alive, but on the inside there really isn't much life. My heart has turned toward this city. I want to go and release the promises of God through prayer, and share the love of God through loving every person I encounter. This city is beautiful. It is a gift to the world. Help us partner with God in releasing light and love over the city. :)

I just wanted to write a quick one to get some thoughts out.
In my life, I've gotten a word or two about "writing." Today, I was reminded of that promise over my life. I have no idea what that will look like and that's not the point of this, but this is what it makes me think about:
I'm not the kind of person that likes talking about things that I haven't lived and have no experience in. I'm not saying I never do it:), but I'm not a fan of telling someone to do something I've never done, or giving someone advice about something I know nothing of. So what in the world am I going to write about? If I'm going to write something that is worth something, then I've got to write from my own life with God.
So this brings me to this question. What am I doing right now that is building in me something worth sharing with a hungry generation? What kind of life am I living that would produce something in me that would move the hearts of people to love God? What am I going to have to say to this generation in five or ten years?
I'm challenged this evening to live a life worthy of my calling. To live in such a way to produce the most fruit possible in my life and in the lives of others. I wanna feed a hungry generation!

There's beauty here
I'm a country girl. Take me to the middle of nowhere, to a swing hung from a tree. Take me to where the only sounds you hear are the birds singing and the wind whistling through the corn fields, and I'm a happy girl. (you could add a cup of coffee to that too and it wouldn't hurt my feelings;))
But here I am. In one of the largest cities in the world. Where the most prominent sound is the traffic from the street below. I ask the Lord, "what do you see in this place?"
"There's beauty here, becca, let me help you see it," he says as I look out over our little street full of people and traffic and noise.
And I realize, He loves this place. He loves this place as much as I love my swing in the country, my peaceful quiet, my deep breaths of fresh air.
I like to imagine Jesus is sitting in the middle of this city taking in the sights and sounds. I imagine he sits in the middle of the crowds, breathing in deeply the beauty of the faces. What if the sound of traffic to him is like the sound of singing birds? What if the hundreds of people in the crowded streets move past him like the tranquil breeze?
What turns a crowded, noisy, busy place into a place of beauty and rest? Love. They say love is blind. But I say love opens the eyes. If we could love how he loves, we could see like he sees. We could see beauty, in the most unlikely of places. We too could be captivated by the crowds of people, each a beloved creation made in the image of God. Each one made uniquely. Each one made to love him with heart, soul, mind, and strength.
"There's beauty here," he says, "let me help you see it."
